Step into History with a Field Trip at Edwards Place!

Tour the Historic House

Great for grades 4—8!
Your tour through historic Edwards Place allows your class to step back in time and experience life in Abraham Lincoln’s Springfield, Illinois.  Enjoy plenty of touch-it opportunities throughout this antebellum mansion, newly restored to its 1857 appearance.

Stay and Paint

Unleash your inner Picassos!

After you’ve visited the historic house, unleash your creativity at a painting workshop in the Springfield Art Association’s Studio of Art! Our talented instructors provide a brief art history lesson, then guide your class through the process of creating their own masterpieces using acrylic paint on canvas.  We provide everything you will need: canvas, paints, brushes and even a smock.  Your students will be amazed at what they can create in just an hour!
